Nottingham Forest's Harry Toffolo has received a suspended five-month ban and a fine of nearly £21,000 ($26,000) for admitting to 375 violations of the Football Association's (FA) betting regulations. The breaches occurred from 2014 to 2017 when Toffolo was playing for Norwich City and had loan spells at various clubs, including Swindon Town, Rotherham United, Peterborough United, and Scunthorpe United.
Toffolo's suspension is suspended until the end of the 2024/25 season. He confessed to violating FA Rule E1(b) 375 times during the period from January 22, 2014, to March 18, 2017. An independent Regulatory Commission imposed these sanctions following a hearing, with detailed reasons for their decisions to be published later.
During the 2022-23 season, Toffolo appeared in 19 matches for Nottingham Forest, helping them avoid relegation from the top flight. The 28-year-old also represented the England under-20s in six matches between 2015 and 2016.
In a similar case, Brentford and England striker Ivan Toney received an eight-month football ban and a £50,000 fine in May for admitting to 232 violations of the Football Association's (FA) betting rules.
A referee lodged a police report after a recent Singapore FA Cup match between East Coast United FC and GFA Victoria FC at Bukit Gombak Stadium, as confirmed by the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) on October 18.
